Council approves water cooler ban

The move will save money and the environment.
Councillors in Liverpool have voted unanimously to get rid of bottled water at the town hall.
The move is expected to save the council about £50,000 a year as well as being more environmental.

Labour's green issues spokesman, Nick Small, proposed the motion at a council meeting on Wednesday.

The council will now remove all water coolers from the town hall and other municipal buildings and install drinking water taps instead.

A council spokesman said drinking tap water, or "corporation pop", would be cheaper than the bottled variety.

He said it would be better for the environment as it removed the need to find landfill space for the empty water bottles.
